    Customized Academic Tutoring

VHA provides a range of academic support services for students in grades 6 through 12. All tutoring services are tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual student, and are delivered via a combination of in-person and online sessions. Some students may work with a VHA educator several times a week, while others may benefit from a “checkup” once a month.

    The VHA Tutoring Difference

All students receive a free initial consultation which is followed by a customized learning plan and individualized reports at regular intervals. Unlike the competition, VHA’s plans and reports are detailed, based on hands-on observation and direct interaction with the student, and prepared by experienced teachers to ensure maximum impact.

Literacy Tutoring (Reading & Writing Support)

We offer instruction and support in reading and writing for college-bound middle and high school students, with expertise gained from years coordinating college writing centers and teaching both secondary and college English courses. After an initial assessment, one of our experienced teachers will craft a reading and/or writing improvement plan for each student and will work to meet this plan’s goals through weekly face-to-face sessions with each student and additional online support. The integrated use of cutting-edge technology serves to both enhance student achievement by leveraging tools familiar to them, and to prepare them for the future where these tools are used in college and beyond.

Literacy support services are particularly useful for students enrolled in English, History, Government, Philosophy, Religion, or other liberal arts subjects.

    Math & Science

VHA provides support for students in math and science classes throughout middle and high school, including Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Instruction generally follows the syllabus designed by the student’s classroom teacher.

    Foreign Language

Learning a new language can be especially challenging for middle and high school students, particularly when their parents don’t know the language and can’t help them with problem areas. VHA’s team of experienced foreign language teachers can assist students in virtually every level of every language taught in area middle and high schools.

    Study Skills & Organization

In addition to reading, writing, and subject-matter issues, many students can benefit from improved organization and study skills. VHA works with students to customize binders, calendars, and other tools that can help them get organized and stay on top of their work throughout the school year.

    Payment Information

All one-on-one tutoring time is billed at $75 per hour. Payment is due on the first of each month for that month’s planned services. For example, in a standard weekly tutoring arrangement, the monthly fee of $300 is due before the first session of the month.
